In December of last year I decided to change the color scheme of my dining room from reds and browns to mint blue and cream, so I purchased a new rug, artwork, two parson chairs and decorative accents. The only thing I wasn’t able to find that matched the color scheme was table linens, so I decided to go without until I could find exactly what I was looking for. I mean there is no point in wasting money on something you don’t love, right?!

So a few months past (5 to be exact) and I still hadn’t found anything that tickled my fancy, so I decided to go to Garden Ridge and get another set of sheets just like the ones I used to make the crib canopy in my Bed Crown and Canopy tutorial that I shared a few months back. The color of the sheets matched the textiles in my dinning room perfectly, so I decided to turn the fitted sheet into a Lace Trim Tablecloth. This was such an easy project and I’m so thrilled to have a tablecloth that actually matches the mint blue pieces in the room, it was just what I needed to pull everything together.

With that being said, I wanted to share a tutorial that shows you how you can turn a sheet into a tablecloth in less than an hour.

Okay, lets get started!

Here is what you will need:

  • Fitted or Flat Sheet (I used a fitted sheet)
  • Lace Trim
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Yard Stick
  • Chalk or Fabric Pen
  • Push Pins

Step 1: Take your fitted sheet and place it on your table

Place Fitted Sheet on Table

Step 2: Determine how long you want your tablecloth to be. Make sure if you’re adding a trim to the bottom of your tablecloth that you account for the extra length. I wanted my table cloth to be 14″ long all the way around and since my trim is 6″ long (I only wanted the trim to overlap the sheet 1″) so that meant I needed my sheet to be 9″ long on all side, so I measured down 9″ from the top of the table and made a dot. I did this every 10 or so inches all the way around.

measure length and make a line

Step 3: Connect the dots/lines to create one line all the way around the table.

Step 4: Cut along the line

This is what it looks like before you add the trim

make sure it's even on all sides

Step 6: Glue the lace trim onto the bottom of the sheet about 1″ from the bottom.

And there you have it a No-Sew Lace Trim Tablecloth
