Earlier this week I shared Riley’s Pre-school Adventures and mentioned that last week was teacher appreciation Unique Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideasweek at Riley’s preschool and promised to share the Unique Teacher Appreciation Gifts that I made for Riley’s 5 teachers. Since Riley now has 5 teachers I couldn’t afford to give them all over-the-top gifts, so I made several gift variations based on how long Riley had been in their class and the amount of time she’s with each teacher throughout the duration of the week. If I had the money I would have given them all SUPER Amazing gifts, but since I don’t I got creative. 🙂

If you look on Pinterest there are sooo many extremely creative Teacher Appreciation Gifts, but I found that most of the gifts were food (either store-bought or homemade), flowers with super cute vases (my favorite are the crayon vases) or themed like a movie theater gift card with snacks. I absolutely adored every single one of them, but I wanted to do something a little different, I wanted to incorporate things that were for the teachers and then things they could use for their classroom (if they wanted too). So I came up with my own teacher appreciation gift, that I thought was functional and cute, I just hope they liked them 🙂

I’m going to share two variations of the teacher appreciation gifts I made. They are very similar, only one has a few more goodies than the other.

Okay, here is the 1st Teacher Appreciation Gift Idea

This gift includes the following items and cost less than $20 to make

  • Pretty Journal – $4.99 at Tuesday Morning
  • Hand Soap – $4.00 from Bath & Body Works (they were 6 for $24)
  • Hand Sanitizer – $1.20 from Bath & Body Works (they were 5 for $6)
  • Lip Balm – $1.50 from TJ Maxx
  • Small Yankee Candle – $1.99 from Cracker Barrell
  • Votive Candle Holder – $.85 (I purchased an 8 pack from hobby lobby, they were $6.99 and I used a 40% off coupon so I paid about $4.25 all 8). I dressed them up using Burlap & Lace and a gold leaf paint pen
  • Twine – $.33 from the Dollar Tree (I purchased a 3 pack so it came out to about $.33 each)
  • Washi Tape – $1.00 from the Dollar Tree
  • Pocket Kleenex pack – $.15 (I purchased an 8 pack from the Dollar Tree)
  • 3 Section Wire Mesh Desk Organizer – $1.00 at the Dollar Tree
  • Pack of Mini Writing Tablets – $1.00 at the Dollar Tree
  • 3 Stylish Pens – $.60 from Dollar Tree (I purchased 5 packs with a total of 28 pens, so it came out to less than $.20 per pen)

Ideas for what to put in a teacher appreciation gift

Here are a few up close pictures of the items I included in the Teacher Appreciation gift, as well as a few pictures showing how I put it all together!

Classroom Supplies - Teacher Appreciation Gift Ideas

Teachers love supplies they can use for their classroom and for organizing things either at school or home. So I used the Mesh Desk Organizer to store all of the goodies!

Teachers love Bath and Body Works

Who Doesn’t love Bath and Body Works?? I wanted to include a few things that were specifically for the Teachers (and not to use on things for their classroom).

Burlap Votive Candle Holder and Candle

I also included a Burlap & Lace Candle Holder that I made and a Yankee Candle

Craft Supplies are a great Teacher Gift Idea

I included twine and washi tape because I thought it would be something they could use either for their classroom or their own personal use.

I also included a journal (which I somehow forgot to take a picture of) 🙁 but it was one of my favorite things about the gift.

I arranged the goodies in the 3 compartment organizer placing the candle and candle holder in one of the small compartments and the Bath and Body Works Hand Soap in the other small compartment. In the large compartment I place the other items making sure that you could see the quote on the front of the journal and the “You’re the Balm” on the front of the lip gloss.

I made two of these gifts, one for each of her (Tuesday/Thursday/Friday teachers) and decided to give them the same items, but I wanted to make them slightly different, so I did two versions of this gift. You’ll notice that the items are the same they just have different scents, designs and colors.

This is the second version

Now that we have arranged all of the goodies in the desk organizer it’s time to wrap your fabulous teacher appreciation gift.

Use a Shrink Wrap Bag to Wrap Your Teacher's Gift

I used a shrink-wrap bag that I purchased from the Dollar Tree. This is the shrink-wrap bag and pull bow. I absolutely LOVE that it comes with a pretty pull bow!

Thank You Gift Tag

I used bakers twine to tie the top of the bag, but before I tied it closed I added a cute Thank You gift tag!

The Shrink Wrapping Process

Once you have it all put together you will use a blow dryer to shrink wrap the bag (this keeps all of the items in place). I didn’t get a picture of the actual “shrink wrapping” but it’s super easy, the instructions are on the bag, but it’s really just taking a blow dryer to apply heat to the bag, in turn that will cause the bag to shrink down so that it conforms to the gift basket (or in this case the organizer).

Last but not least I tied the pull bow (that came with the shrink wrap bag) to the top of the bag, and viola, you have a unique teacher appreciation gift that is perfect for any teacher!

Fun Gift Idea for Teacher Appreciation

I made three teacher appreciation gifts like this one (only different colors/designs/scents, similar to what I did for the other two teacher appreciation gifts). I gave these gifts to Riley’s Monday/Wednesday teachers and her extended day teacher.

The teachers seemed to love the gifts, which is what is most important, right 🙂 They all sent thank you letters to Riley and she was so excited that her teachers gave her a card that she wanted me to put the memory board in her playroom, it was precious!!

Until next time……
