Mason Jars are one of my top go to pieces for decorating, as they are extremely versatile and there are soooo many ways that you can repurpose them. I’ve shared several ways to repurpose mason jars in the past and today I want to share a tutorial on how to make DIY Shabby Chic Mason Jars. This is one of my favorites, as I love the distressed look and the shabby chic color schemes. Not to mention, they are perfect for spring decorating, as well as any sort of rustic or vintage inspired baby shower, bridal shower or wedding.
I use my DIY Shabby Chic Mason Jars for all sorts of things, from decorating to storing craft supplies, so no matter what the occasion these mason jars are the perfect way to add a little rustic style without breaking the bank.
Okay, let’s get started!
Here is what you will need:
- Mason Jar
- Acrylic (multi-surface) paint
- Paint Brush
- Sand Paper
Step 1: Paint Mason Jar
This is what it looks like after the first coat of paint
Step 2: Apply a 2nd coat of paint onto the mason jar
Step 3: Gently rub your sandpaper over parts of the mason jar to create a distressed look.
